The purpose of the Board of Directors is to:
- Make plans for carrying out the ideals and the purposes of the TODA.
- Provide for the general good and welfare of the membership at large.
- Transact such business as is referred to it by the TODA in general session.
- Establish a contractual agreement with the Executive Director.

Pat Leaverton is the husband of the wonderful Lori Leaverton and is the director of orchestras at Lamar High School, a position he has held since 2005. He is the lead director of the Symphony full and string orchestras, the Philharmonic orchestra, and assists with the Concert and Sinfonia Orchestras. He has taught in the Arlington ISD since 1989, teaching every level of orchestra offered from 5th through 12th grade. His groups have consistently earned Sweepstakes at UIL competition and have been awarded many “Best in Class” awards at spring music festivals.
Pat is in his third term as the Texas Music Educator’s Association Region 5 Orchestra Chair, and has been a judge for All-State basses for the past 21 years. He is the contest chair for the UIL Region 5 Solo and Ensemble Contest. Mr Leaverton has been invited to adjudicate several UIL Concert and Sightreading Contests and Solo and Ensemble Contests throughout the state every year.
Pat holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baylor University and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas. He is a double bassist, and has performed professionally with the Waco, Temple, San Angelo, and Arlington Symphonies. His major teachers on Double Bass include Michael Cameron, Mark Whitney and Jeff Bradetich. His private students have won appointments to All-State groups, State Solo and Ensemble Awards, and scholarships to several schools of music. Pat is affiliated with the Texas Music Educator’s Association, Texas Orchestra Director’s Association, Texas Music Adjudicator’s Association, Mu Omicrom, and the International Society of Bassists.
